Beyond Entropy Angola
Beyond Entropy Angola is a research project that culminated in the first Pavilion of the Republic of Angola at the 2012 Venice Biennale.
The proposal is for an active design tool that prototypes a possible urban future of Luanda. The initial research was developed with the assistance of the Municipal Administration of Cazenga and students at the Methodist University of Angola. The installation is a real scale prototype of a fragment of a common ground for Luanda reconstructed on the Island of San Giorgio Maggiore and was articulated around three types of space: the voids of the footprint of the buildings and the common ground in between them; and the soundscape of the city. Along with the prototype, the project includes the manifesto Towards a New Urban Energy and the documentary Beyond Entropy Angola.
